Having the address displayed on your property is not only very important, but is a requirement of the MN State Building Code. It ensures that visitors are able to find your property; but more importantly is that in the event of a Police, Fire or Medical Emergency having the proper identification on your property will save precious time if emergency responders are able to locate the address on your property. MN State Fire Code Section 501.2 states: New and existing buildings shall be provided with approved address numbers or letters. Each character shall be not less than 4 inches in height and not less than 0.5 inch in width. They shall be installed on a contrasting background and be plainly visible from the street or road fronting the property.
