[ARCHIVED] Xcel Contractor Working in Southern Portion of City

Over the last several years, Xcel Energy has hired a subcontractor to inspect residential gas services to make sure they don’t conflict with other underground pipes.  They are looking specifically to make sure their gas services have not pierced other utility pipes such as sanitary sewer, storm sewer or water main.  The City has worked with the Xcel subcontractor, KS Energy Services, for several years to make sure that residents are notified before work begins.  This notification is made by phone calls directly to Xcel customers.  It is my understanding that affected Xcel customers have been called over the last few days, as work will begin on March 29.  The attached list of streets shows the range of addresses where inspections will occur.

There is no cost for these inspections. All workers will have KS Energy Services/Xcel badges and trucks will be marked.  In all likelihood, most residents will not even realize the inspection has occurred.  If a concern is noted, residents will be contacted directly by KS Energy Services.

Work is anticipated to last through the end of April.

If you have any specific questions, please contact project manager Nick Galbreath at 651-402-0705 or at ngalbreath@ksenergyservices.com.  You can also contact City Engineer Mark Graham at 651-204-6050 or mark.graham@cityvadnaisheights.com.

Thank you for your attention to this important safety inspection.
