Construction on the new MnPASS Express Lanes on Interstate 35E between St. Paul and White Bear Lake is near completion and the lanes are now open as of Friday, December 9.
Some of the MnPASS electrical equipment on I-35E will not be fully operational until the end of December so solo motorists with a MnPASS tag and an active account will not be charged a fee to drive in the new MnPASS lanes north of Little Canada Road during peak-travel times. Additional state troopers will be enforcing the lanes until the MnPASS equipment is operational. Solo motorists who are driving in the MnPASS lanes during peak-travel times without a MnPASS tag are subject to a citation and a fine up to $200.
Solo motorists with a MnPASS tag will still be charged a fee to drive in the MnPASS lanes in both directions of I-35E between Cayuga Street and Little Canada Road during peak-travel times.
