[ARCHIVED] Residential Lawn Sprinkling and White Bear Lake lawsuit

Litigation continues between some homeowners around White Bear Lake and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources as the DNR recently appealed a recent judge’s decision. The judge’s decision included potential impacts to the City’s lawn irrigation policy.  During the legislative session, Both houses of the Minnesota State Legislature approved a bill that Governor Dayton signed, that postpones the judge’s decision until July 1, 2019, that includes an irrigation ban when lake levels fall below an elevation of 923.5 feet.

Therefore, the City’s current code of odd/even lawn irrigation remains exactly as it has in past years.  As stated in City Code Chapter 55.180, sprinkling is limited to odd /even from June 1 to September 15.  Odd numbered street addresses are only allowed to sprinkle their yards on odd numbered calendar days.   Even numbered street addresses are only allowed to sprinkle their yards on even numbered calendar days.   If you have any questions, please contact City Engineer Mark Graham at 651-204-6050 or at mark.graham@cityvadnaisheights.com.
