Food Scraps Collection

More than 30% of what goes into the trash is food scraps and other organic waste. Recycling food waste converts it to compost, which puts nutrients back into the soil. Keep your food scraps out of the trash by following the below steps.

Get Started

Food scraps recycling can be accomplished in four easy steps:

  1. Visit Ramsey County's website for tips on how to get started and a list accepted and unaccepted items: ramseyrecycles.com/foodscraps
  2. Fill up your compostable bags with food scraps and other organics waste.
  3. Bring your food scraps to the Vadnais Heights collection site at 3595 Arcade St. N (parking lot south of the Fire Station and City Hall). It’s free to use and available 24/7. Find additional collections sites in Ramsey County.
  4. Pick up more free compostable bags at the collection site.

Food Scraps are picked up at our collection site every Wednesday by Waste Management.
