The city is hosting a Comprehensive Plan Open House on Tuesday, April 24 from 5-7 p.m. at City Hall. The process to update the City’s Comprehensive Plan started last spring. Since then, City staff and consulting planners have been working on the required updates to the current Comprehensive Plan and conducting public engagement at community events. Several of the DRAFT elements are completed and have been reviewed by the City Council and Commissions.An updated Plan must be submitted for review by the Metropolitan Council by the end of 2018, which requires review by surrounding communities and affected jurisdictions prior to submission. In order to meet the deadline, staff is anticipating completing the DRAFT Plan in the summer of 2018. Prior to submitting the Plan for adjacent review, the City will be holding an Open House for the community to review the elements and maps to provide additional feedback. In addition, the City Council will be conducting a Public Hearing in May or June to approve the DRAFT Plan.We encourage residents and businesses to attend the Open House and the Public Hearing.
